Denver NMHA Local Licensing & Inspection Process
Denver passed a local ordinance regulating NMHA businesses in March 2025. The ordinance requires a local license for any healing center that is not comprised of only clinical facilitators. Denver has announced it will release the online licensing portal in June 2025. The local license will be in addition to the state licenses required to operate these facilities in Denver. Denver has provided the following guidance on how the licensing inspection process will work once people apply at the local level: “Our licensing technicians strive to complete the initial review of an application within 7 business days. The time it takes to move from application to inspections depends on the applicant’s timely response to requests for corrections as well as the licensing technician’s workload. When the application review is complete, the applicant will receive an email instructing them to call for inspections. There will at least be an inspection by the building division of the Dept. of Community Planning and Development. Each department has its own inspection procedures to ensure compliance with relevant codes. Our website will have the most up-to-date information as well as step-by-step instructions for completing the process.” Contact McAllister Law Office if you have questions about the local licensing process in Denver or any other jurisdiction.
